Hillary just didn't have the charisma that Mamdani has, and even worse, the democrats had the perfect candidate to win over trump: Bernie, and they went with Hillary instead. She'd be one of the "Democrat spoilers" I mentioned, because she's not actually progressive

I personally think simplifying politics rather than fighting over ID politics is better for people to learn. Accessibility is important, I don't even like using the word "neoliberal" to describe an older form of modern liberalism which is still a capitulation to right wing politics

I think that person is expecting too much from a politician, I think Mamdani has perfectly voiced his anti-zionist takes even in a way that legacy media liberals get mad at him for. To do or say much else further than he has is to have bad optics from every side.

I'm personally an anarcho-communist but I don't care about identity politics, it never helps in actually uniting people, but political science calls neoliberalism a post-enlightenment liberalism that isn't actually progressive but it presents itself as progressive, see Reagan and Thatcher for ex.

Mamdani is perfectly fine on Israel, and as you may notice, all the other Democrats in his same race seem to show support for Israel, so he's clearly the best candidate for mayor. I never said we shouldn't back Mamdani, you're strawmanning because you won't accept that democrats can be fascists too

Voting blue no matter who is literally the way we got a fascist president. When the democrats swapped Biden for Kamala, that wasnt "blue no matter who", that was a clear display of how public pressure can actually make democrats do slightly better. Vote for the policies you want, and have conviction

The problem is you don't know what we're talking about so you make reactionary assumptions like anyone who criticizes Democrats are just spoilers and anyone who wants socialism is idealistic. Mamdani is about to take the mayoral race in New York as a socialist, there's clearly an appetite.

I voted for Kamala dumbass I didn't vote for Trump, and voting third party is still voting against Trump. The polls showed the people want fascism which just isn't true, they're just ignorant to how it begins kinda like you, you put your faith in capitalists and they didn't give you anything back

"the left" doesn't include people who endlessly defend career politicians and stake their whole future on capitalists and people who don't see you as anything other than a number on a poll. Those people are the reason we got here, keep up, we're trying to move on, but Democrats keep capitulating

It's not idealism to have such firmly held convictions that you won't actively vote for policies that are against your interests just because it's a Democrat who runs on those policies. That's the fundamental principle of voting, and your efforts to bastardize that process is capitulation to fascism
