Everything I post is consensual and not realistically depicted. Just wanted to be clear since the cowards running this website decided to bend the knee in advance.
Different shading techniques on different parts of the picture, still generally following the same basic shading rules (hatching towards an imaginary line that defines the contours of the shapes). Just kind of general thought i have for shading things with a pencil on small canvases (2/2)

Yeah I know that, but my current desk has an iverhead lught and a window behind me so there's always different lighting and I cant stand the reflections.
Hopefully thr overhead light burns out and doesnt get replaced so i can just take pictures flat on the desk and nit want to die

In order to avoid the graphite reflecting the poffice lights or phone shadows, I prop the post it nite pad up on its side and take a final picture straight on. I usually take it from a few feet back and then crop the picture down to avoid lens distortions and such.

Wow, bluesky just flat-out ate my whole second post! om teally glad. I went with a character ive never drawn before for this to avoid a 'draw the rest of the owl' situation. I have to retype all of these descriptions now so they're gonna be a lot worse!
