Happy to welcome the Irish Ambassador to Japan, Damien Cole, to #OIST today. What lovely weather he had for his first visit to #Okinawa.

For more than 10 years, my research group has always been represented at #PhotonicsWest. This year we are not going. I cannot justify giving any funds to the USA right now and if I have no major commitment to travelling there that's very hard to get out of, I will not go. #values #SPIE

At least Okinawa is showing up in all her beauty today despite the ugliness displayed by people in the world right now #OIST #Okinawa

I've spent the last few weeks travelling around Sri Lanka, away from my computer, away from my desk, ignoring emails while on a much-needed break. Here are some of the best moments. What a beautiful country. And coconut curries all the time helps lose weight!

We’re recruiting! Looking to hire a postdoc/staff scientist in cold atoms - the position is experimental so you must have lab skills in cold atoms or ions. The project is trapping Rydberg atoms next to nanofibres using holographic traps. Come to beautiful Okinawa for the next step of your career!

Friendly reminder: If you are rejected for a job—whether it's a postdoc, faculty, or industry role—commenting on the interviewer's appearance in your response is wildly inappropriate. It’s unprofessional and unwelcome. Don't do it.
