Capitalism (i.e., greed) is currently the main driving force for progress; everything else is just an instrument or description of how it works. And it will go forward no matter the consequences, until it's stopped and replaced with a better alternative.

I think the current hype about AI may be the same as the hype about dotcoms in the 90s. If that is so, then we might see the next economic crisis in the near future
