Now that we can pin posts, about time for a permanent reminder of my #gamedev resource.

This is a completely FREE resource, aimed at folks wanting to make games for the very first time. So if you know folks asking 'How do I start making games?' this is the link for you!

This brief trip to San Francisco was a bit random and accidental in the scale of things, but it has been nice to have a few days pure R&R and unplug.

Not often I get a handful of consecutive days to just do tourist stuff in a city I visit.

San Francisco has a new Nintendo store, so I could hardly not go check it out now could I?

Took some time this morning to go back to one of my favorite small museums in San Francisco.

The Cartoon Art Museum ( @cartoonart.bsky.social) is a small gallery with a focus on cartoon art and animation.

Always has something interesting on display.

Morning marine layer and fog still wrapping the Golden Gate Bridge up as I walk past a good view of it.

That’s why it’s a secret!

It wouldn’t be a trip to San Francisco for me without a visit to Humphy Slocombe in the Ferry building for some of their Secret Breakfast ice-cream.

Cornflakes, caramel, and bourbon. It’s probably my favorite ice cream. 🍦🥃

Seven floors of exhibits, so there is a lot to get around.

I might not always ‘get’ any given piece of modern art, but a museum like this is an experience that can’t help but get some creative juices flowing.

Spent the morning exploring San Francisco’s Museum of Modern Art.

I walk past so often when busy at GDC every March, so it was lovely to get a few hours to just explore and appreciate the art 🖼️

Well that’s a new addition outside the Ferry Building.

On the road again. A few days in San Francisco for some brief r&r.

I think the true tragedy is that these systems can mimic and fake ‘emotional intelligence’ in ways that exceed the amount many flesh and blood people actually show each other. Which is, I think, the nefarious gap these ghouls are exploiting. Which in turn is very sad to contemplate

I've been saving this one! Finally got some time for it now that Hades 2 is out of Early Access.

Have a busy weekend ahead, including some travel, so may not get too deep just yet, but having fun with my initial runs.

Much of that soundtrack work is actually pretty exceptional imho. Honestly it’s more interesting and varied than his NIN stuff. (I know that’s blasphemy to some, but that’s how good it is to me)

Papa Nurgle wanted some robots too.

After all the cozy goodness I played over the weekend, I went for the opposite vibe with a full playthrough of Dead Take last night.

Has a neat combo of Myst style puzzling and FMV stuff going on.

I'm not sure I 'got' all the story fully, but the atmosphere kept pulling me forward. #Indiegames

and I'll always be glad they existed :) So many times, even back then, I'd get push back on why anyone was 'wasting time' on some of those purely social systems. (To be fair, I was also never actually overruled and told to stop them.)

A bit of detailing still to do, but I managed to finally make some good progress on the Vespids.

Continued the cozy theme for the weekend's gaming adventures as I spent some time with Wanderstop.

Another fun one, the messages about burnout and cynicism aren't all that subtle so far, but the characters are charming and well written. #Indiegames

Spent some time with Tiny Bookshop this evening. It's a charming little game. The core loop flows nicely and wasn't expecting just how compelling the recommendation mechanic is.

This one is a neat light resource management sim with a genuine love of books. #Indiegames

Not totally unexpected but I weirdly had some faith he would have turned it around.

The owners need to give someone the chance to actually build something long term. Not sure it is the coaches who should be changed #westham #coyi

If EA is indeed taken private, I would love to think that no longer having shareholders might improve the short term thinking and be better for devs, but I'll also wager that if is a leveraged buyout, the debt they are about to be loaded with will not end up being good for avoiding cuts either.
