Hi, I'm Lindsay. I'm a 54 year old Twitter runaway who likes reading, chess, current affairs, science, sport, education, writing and learning about interesting stuff. I loved having access to people a lot smarter and more interesting than I am!
Wtf is this rubbish?

You really think it would make a difference? Trump's paedophilia is quite clear. The mere fact that he, the most sue happy politician in American history, doesn't sue for being called a paedophile is powerful negative evidence. His base won't care.

I disagree that he does not care, I think he's quite pleased about it.

Do you follow Philip Plait?

In a world where Donald Trump is taken seriously and made President twice it's little that a proven lifesaving preventative measure like vaccination is getting rejected.

Germans and foreign nations said the same about Hitler. Mein Kampf, which was extremely detailed about his agenda, wasn't enough information apparently.
When people tell you who they are, believe them.

Co-operation with the government is for when they follow the rules. They aren't following the rules - or the law so no cooperation.
January 25, 2026 at 11:17 PM
That is so telling.

It will take time for people to agree that other measures are insufficient but you are absolutely right. These are not ordinary times.

We have you in our thoughts in Australia too.

It bothers me when I read something so cogently and clearly expressed as Wil's condemnation and I ask myself "Is he going hard enough at these fucks?"
January 25, 2026 at 7:12 PM
Surely that rattled your cage big time if you're an Arsenal fan. Only 4 points ahead.
January 25, 2026 at 7:10 PM
I gave the matter considerable thought. The Trump administration acknowledged that he was shot dead by a member of ICE. That's about it.

I hope so. The midterms need to be something more than the usual swing against the government. Republicans need to lose seats that they never dreamed of losing. I'm hoping that the gerrymander will rebound upon them because it reduced the margin in many seats, thus opening them up to be flipped.
January 25, 2026 at 7:06 PM
At least they're trying. Some good news for once from the USA.
January 25, 2026 at 7:03 PM
Correct, they are too stupid to realise that once the libs are fully owned, that they will be next. And their pathetic little array of guns, while great for shooting children, doesn't work too well against fully armed and trained military enforcement.
January 25, 2026 at 7:00 PM
Even though they will get paid, shutting the government down sends a message that there's a huge price to be paid for breaking the accepted norms of government. It states that your unwillingness to follow the rules will be matched by our unwillingness to give you any co-operation. At all.
January 25, 2026 at 6:57 PM
If you're an Arsenal fan, that has to have rattled your cage! They should be out of sight. Instead, it's just 4 points.
January 25, 2026 at 6:54 PM
I'm more likely to win the lottery. Those same Republicans would be removed by their own supporters for doing so.
January 25, 2026 at 6:52 PM
If the base aren't convinced their leadership is wrong, the representatives will largely not move either. The ones we need to convince are the MAGAs among us - and they don't listen.
January 25, 2026 at 6:51 PM
I feel like President Obama believes that business as usual can continue. This is a well reasoned, logical, calm response. I believe it's out of touch with what's needed. If the time hasn't come to invade the streets and shut down the nation, it's got to be getting close.
January 25, 2026 at 6:49 PM
Yeah, about 70 million of them. It's not like they've responded with revulsion and disgust and demanded he stop. Remember, Nixon resigned because the people who voted for him in a landslide in 1972 were utterly disgusted with his behaviour and wanted him out, demanding their party remove him.
