Silly Bike Rack

Just taking photos of silly bike racks and their placement.

This is particularly poor placement of the bike rack and trash can. This raised brick walkway is supposed to be a pedestrian access point from the street. Instead the property owner has decided create a needless conflict. #bikeyvr 1/5 stars. #bikesky

This is a great bike rack. Right beside a bikeway and the main entrance of the building, covered by a security camera and protected from the rain. 5/5 good work @vancouverconventioncentre.com

I mean I get why developers of big strip malls like this on marine way put the bike racks here, but this is fundamentally a bad location simply because it’s nowhere near entrances. If I wanted to lock up my bike and go to the staples, that becomes close to a kilometre walk. #bikeyvr #activemobility

Not bolted down, too much greenery 0/5

Want to get your bike stolen? Don’t park it here. Alcove behind a development, no line of sight to anyone. Not covered either. 0/5

3/5 Home Depot on terminal. Covered. High traffic, near the exit. But the rack is too close to the wall in order to lock bikes up properly.

If Manning park resort can have bike racks, your office or warehouse can have one

Fantastic bike racks at the VanDusen Botanical gardens- large, visible, and right near the entrance.

Save on Foods doesn't seem to like bikes judging by how they crowd the bike rack.

This seems like a great idea for a bike rack- being inside near lockers for students. But it's awkward to get to, and it's right beside a machine shop with no visibility.

Shout out to MEC for this 5 Star bike rack set up. Lots of space, air and tools, it's covered near the entrance, and is on CCTV. This is an excellent example of what you could do with bike parking.

Only the best burnaby bike infrastructure at the pitch and putt in Central Park.

Overgrown and there's too much coyote and cobra chicken risk!

Couldn't find it quickly when entering the parking lot (it was hiding behind cars!) not under cover, and not really a lot of space for more than one or two bikes without impeding the area around it. But there's lots of people traffic walking past it.

Good placement! good design, near the front door where a receptionist can see it all day. Not lit or covered though.
March 29, 2025 at 6:07 AM
Covered and good design, but hidden away and not near a main entrance.
March 29, 2025 at 6:06 AM
Near the front entrance, but there's no reason it couldn't be undercover or closer to the entrance. Nice meatballs though.

Plenty of space for bikes, but it's not near the main entrance to the building where there's low pedestrain traffic, and the cars on canada way aren't a threat to any wouldbe thief, and it's uncovered. At least it's lit?

Wide bays for bikes, near an entrance, not covered or well lit at night, and very low traffic nearby. Also, lots of angle grinders inside this building.

Please trim that tree.

Standard bike rack design, near the front doors, accessed through parking lot, not covered or lit at night. Nice that it's in a suburban area though.

You can't see it in the photo, but you cannot access this rack without going up about 12 stairs. It's not covered, and it's in a crowded seating area so access is awkward.
March 29, 2025 at 5:59 AM
It's near the entryway, standard design and it's not in the parking lot. Not undercover though or lit at night.

Love to see bike racks like this at a school- but it's nowhere near the entrance of the school or undercover or in view of teachers or admin staff at the school.

This bike rack at Costco in Burnaby (the other one) isn't too bad as it's covered, but it's not near the entrance of the store, right up against the wall and too close to shopping carts.
March 29, 2025 at 5:54 AM
One bike rack in the shopping complex with two restaurants and two major retailers- far from entrances, and extremely unclear where it is, and not visible from the road.

Covered, high traffic area, wide open line of sight near doors to the business, but it's getting confused as cart storage. Honestly I expected worse from this orange big box hardware store.
