Headcanon: when Maedhros was reembodied he was still missing his right hand. This is because the new hröa (body) is made from the memory of it stored within the fëa (soul), but he had come to see the missing hand as such a fundamental part of him, that the 'blueprint' for his hröa had also lost it.
