i have resorted to lookup recs online and then ordering them from blackwells in UK or thriftbooks or using libby to check them out to my kobo.

now all bookstores feel the same. all the recs are for either well known romantasy series or some sort of trauma porn ish or always something morose and pretentious.

also i used to enjoy bookstore recs back in india. the lending library guy or bookseller will helpfully sat “yeh lijiye madam, sab log abhi yehi padh rahe hain” and it was fun to run into weird books
