Timothee Chalamet may be this generation's @TomCruise, an actor who can open any film he's in.

RIP Brigitte Bardot

A good actress, a great animal rights advocate, and a sex symbol for the ages.

Acclaimed author Harry Turtledove imagines life in modern America as a Soviet-style people’s republic in his new alternate history novel, Powerless. Read the review at Silver Screen Videos: bit.ly/3YLTUqG

Powerless by Harry Turtledove - Review
Powerless reads much like an old class text. Unfortunately, what seemed topical when I was in junior high school is hopelessly musty today,

New Years Eve is not usually a big movie night, but the finale of Stranger Things is en route to selling out every show in every theater where it's playing.

None of the new cast members on NBCSNL can come close to filling the shoes of #BowenYang. They can't rely on Donald Trump sketches every episode. The only times the show is worth watching this year is when they have a host who can carry sketches like Molly McCarthy.

Unless you've got a real good memory or brush up by watching six hours of earlier series films, Avatar Fire And Ash will be hopelessly confusing. Just do what I did and appreciate the visuals and action scenes and ignore the plot.

Congratulations to John Crow, on a well-earned "soft" retirement from the Georgia Lottery after 17 years. I had the pleasure of working with John for four of those years. He's a great host, a talented actor, and a wonderful help to the entire community. I'll miss seeing him on air.

If last night was Travis Kelce's farewell to Arrowhead Stadium, he gave them one last pleasant set of memories in the game's last two minutes. But as with everything else about the Chiefs this year, it was too little, too late, and ultimately, not enough.

The New York Giants made tremendous personnel improvements in the offseason and jettisoned a large part of their coaching problems, but they somehow have the exact same pathetic record at Christmas this year as last.

The makers of Anaconda could never decide what type of movie they wanted to make, and, as a result, it's not nearly as funny as it should be. It also lacks any equivalent of the gonzo zaniness of Jon Voight in the original film.

Late night Christmas Eve at the Waffle House; Christmas dinner at the Golden Corral. Life doesn't get any better than this.

I watched The Holdovers again last night and intend to make it a Christmas Eve standard from now on. It's a marvelous movie, and Paul Giamatti should have won an Oscar for his performance.

Twelve Big 10 teams are going to bowl games this year, but Notre Dame somehow manages for 2026 to schedule three Big 10 teams that aren't going to bowls and drops Southern Cal.
December 24, 2025 at 10:57 PM
Unless Notre Dame joins the Big Ten, they'll never be able to replace the ACC games they would lose by terminating their relationship. A Notre Dame schedule with a half dozen games against Navy and Western Michigan won't appeal to fans, NBC, or the CFP Committee.

I've got a great idea for the next Deadpool & Wolverine movie. Have Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds form a Neil Diamond tribute band and go on the road doing concerts and fighting evil.

What the Night Brings by Mark Billingham - Review
The most recent Tom Thorne novel by Mark Billingham, What the Night Brings, the 19th in the series, is an excellent police procedural.

James Cameron hasn't lost his touch with audiences, and the box office results for the latest Avatar film proves it.

Rob Reiner was the first NBCSNL host who participated in the sketches with the regular cast.

Bowen Yang leaving the show is a big loss for NBCSNL. None of the new arrivals have distinguished themselves the way Yang did.

Texas A&M - Miami was 56 minutes of the least exciting football I've seen this year followed by four minutes of the most exciting football I've seen this year.
