That is such an interesting historical/geological conformity/hiatus in the Washington Monument. Love that. Political/financial woes mid-way through construction - that wouldn't happen nowadays, right?

Except the increased density of water and differential rasping of small vs larger gastropod mouths? That's before even starting with ball colour algal colonisation differences. Am marking papers - this is so much more fun to think about.

Thinking eco-hydrodynamically, do the polymer surfaces and dimples in the golf balls that aid their flight through the air now affect the rate and speciation of aquatic algal colonisation? I need a stream and a load of old Callaways...an Ignobel awaits.

Very nice Catherine. Really good to see this out. This has been a massive project since lockdowns right? Well done. I thought of you finding these the other day. Winter definitely the best time for finding future technofossils in the undergrowth
