I recently came across this heartwarming Christmas ad for IKEA Italy. Created in 2018 by STV DDB Milan, the ad captures the holiday spirit as two men find themselves trapped in a lift with their IKEA shopping.

Today, December 3rd, is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, established by the UN in 1992.
This 2005 ad for EDF imagines a world where ramps replace stairs, libraries are filled with braille books, and bank staff use sign language.

Every Christmas, Apple offers a seasonal film that occasionally hits the jackpot Here’s their 2025 offering, a delightfully childish film called ‘A Critter Carol’, with hand-made puppetry shot entirely on the iPhone 17 Pro.

Back in 1989, this is what Cyber Monday would have looked like. Before online shopping (or online anything), BT was encouraging people to use their phones when shopping to reserve items and beat the in-store rush. Agency was JWT.

I’m not always a huge fan of retailers’ Christmas ads but I have to admit Tesco have made some lovely ‘slice of life’ films this year.

Here’s a perfect example - the grandfather who “expressed an opinion”.

Here’s an example that made me laugh out loud - the son who’s lost his accent down south.

In 1999, Saatchi and Saatchi created one of New Zealand’s most iconic ads to promote the Toyota Hilux. The ad attracted 120 complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority, who ruled that the word “bugger” was unlikely to cause serious offence.

The fabulous Terry Thomas appeared in this fun 1970 ad for Gilbey's Gin, along with a very young Rula Lenska.
Born the son of a Finchley butcher in 1911, Thomas often portrayed “disreputable members of the upper classes, especially cads, toffs and bounders.”

This 2007 ad, called ‘Fired’ for obvious reasons, was created by TBWA/Chiat/Day New York for Nextel Communications, an American mobile operator.

Looks dated but remember it was ‘only’ 18 years ago - the same year that the iPhone was introduced.
