An avid gamer since childhood has brought me to a strange goal of virtually traveling the world through Microsoft Flight Simulator. Starting in Colorado, USA I have a goal of flying to as many different countries as possible in a small engine aircraft.
Honduras to Guatemala today. This one was a short, yet exciting trip. I learned about the vast amount of rice fields in northern Guatemala before flying to an airport the game thought was in the ocean. So, I had to reroute farther inland to avoid crashing into a nonexistent airport. #flightsim

I don't think I realized how many volcanoes were in Central America. Traveling from El Salvador to Honduras on this short trip was amazing as I passed over 5 different volcanoes. According to wikipedia there are 26 volcanoes in #ElSalvador and #Honduras combined. ((IRL bucket list item added today))

One more day another country down. Traveled from Guatemala to El Salvador today. The weather was a little harsh but we made it up over the mountains without incident. Welcome to beautiful San Salvador. #flightsim #worldtour #msfs2024 #ElSalvador

Took off from #Belize and ended up in Poptun #Guatemala.

From beaches to mountains and one more country landed in on this journey around the world. Poptun is home of the Kaibiles an elite jungle warfare wing of the Guatemalan army. From my pov, this jungle city looks very pretty, esp. from the sky

Finally flew away from #Mexico and into #Belize. One of the joys of flying with real weather on is sometimes you get to witness some really cool thunderstorms as you traverse the planet. I have made it to San Pedro a small city on the reef barrier of Belize. Enroute we saw some amazing geography.

Finally back in the cockpit once again. Today we made it to Chichen Itza (in #MSFS2024) and yes, I had to hike from the runway to the pyramid.

Chichen Itza~ was built around 600 CE and is still one of the most important #mayan Archeological sites. Microsoft did a good job rendering it. #mexico

((Have a business trip this weekend so I am unable to continue the journey around the world and the tour of Mexico. For roleplay purposes you may imagine me spending some time exploring fishing villages, looking at Mayan cultural ruins, and relaxing on the beach. We will continue on Tuesday next))

We have reached the Yucatan and ancient Mayan kingdoms. Today we flew over some beautiful lakes, some thunderstorms, and some beaches. I have found that I do not like flying over the ocean but need to get used to it before our transatlantic leg. #MSFS2024 #flightsim #mexico #Maya #worldtour

Today we flew from Veracruz to Cardenas. Cardenas is a small town in the state of Tabasco in Mexico. It is not a popular tourist destination so not many people speak english. We will be flying towards Chichen Itza within the next few days. #MSFS2024 #flightsim #WorldTour #Mexico

First leg for 1st September is Veracruz City. 2 things I noticed, the mountains in the state of Veracruz look a lot like Kauai Hawaii, and the cities look really cool. I would go here in a heartbeat. #trivia in the follow up posts. #mexico #flightsim #worldtour

Our final flight of today took us to Tuxpan de Rodriguez Cano. This is apparently the closes port to Mexico City and as such it is an important economic city. Interestingly in 1870 a colony of US Confederate Officers was established here to avoid prosecution. #mexico #flightsim #WorldTour

Today's first journey takes us from the heartland of Mexico to La Pesca on the gulf. This small city is basically a fishing town often used for weather reports. I never realized how empty northern Mexico actually is (first two photos) but this little town on the gulf looks amazing. #worldtour

Overnight flight to the middle of nowhere Mexico. New Laredo to Las Norias. I wasn't able to find much about this region of Mexico, but it looks like it has an amazing cavern system and some interesting Eco-Tourism. If anyone knows this area of Mexico let me know what it is all about. #flightsim

Our 6th stop is Nuevo Laredo in Mexico. Often associated with drug cartels and other forms of organized crime this city is actually one of the most important locations for North American Commerce. It hosts the most border crossings b/w USA and Mexico.

Started a journey around the world in Flight Simulator three days ago. I decided it would be fun to post about it here so feel free to join in on the journey if you wish. The goal is to fly to every continent in the world except antarctica and to learn about the places I land in.
