A framing device I have found helpful is a post on the Bad Site which said essentially "Stop trying to catch conservatives in their hypocrisy. They are not bound by fae rules and need not acknowledge your correctness or admit defeat to your logic. They only care about scoring points right now."

Patrick Stewart's is the exact length of the drive to the in-laws' every Xmas (depending on traffic). It's my yearly bribe to go make nice.

When other friends found out about it, they asked if we could print them copies too. And you're a much more engaging writer than I am, so I bet you'd get buyers for your writing as much as for the recipes (heck, I'd buy it for the doodles in the margins 😆)

My wife and I made a cookbook through a photo site for a friend who didn't cook and was going through some dietary changes. We wrote up detailed instructions on how to make his favorite stuff and WHY we did each step, and took pictures of it all. He still cooks out of it years later. 2/

That can actually be the most valuable perspective though. "I had to figure out how to make foods that she can eat" will draw in a LOT of people who need tips on how to substitute and work around food sensitivities. I'm an OK cook, and substitutions are the what I get asked most by friends. 1/

I (high school senior) was visiting my brother in college. His girlfriend had a Jazz History paper due and didn't want him to go out without her. I grabbed her book on Dizzy Gillespie, read 4 random pages of it, wrote 2 pages in 20 minutes, and we all went out to Subway. She got her first A.

Those arrows were as thick as my thumb though. Lurtz was using homebrew rules for heavy arrows that do extra damage.

Please stop making outdated references that I get. It's not great for my self-image.

My wife uses Focus Friend when she's writing, but that's less a blocker and more a cozy encouragement to use your devices less. Colleen Doran has talked about the ones she uses, both here and on her Substack IIRC.

Although it is a bit surreal to see all of the horrors of the world, with "Nintendo Direct" in the middle of them.

We have a cat who regularly infodumps to us about his favorite ball. We love it, and he is an absolute fucking delight.

You monster! I just told you I get sick whenever you put a new book out. This is not just a new book, but in my favorite series too?! I'm gonna die.

As someone solidly on the artist's side of the AI vs Artists debate, I'm going to say something with a lot of love and respect: Practice doesn't always help. I tried to learn to draw. I practiced for 10 years, carried a sketch pad with me everywhere, and draw constantly. I still suck. Talent exists.

I feel bad that I didn't think to bring this up while the campaign was going on, but Monolith just did crowdfunding for a Legend of the 5 Rings board game, and I've thought for a while that I'd love to see your take on that world, and maybe even a "Which Ninja?" on the Scorpion Clan.

Yeah, but you've been interested in those for a long time, so it's not technically a "new" hobby, so much as one that just hasn't been taken out of the box yet.

Please understand that I loved the movie, but the opening was probably the best analogue I've ever experienced to missing the first issue of a storyline and having to rely on the recap page to know what's going on.

His O.G. was one of my first 2 Joes. I also got a tiny toolkit for that birthday, and destroyed several of my Joes over the years swapping pieces between them. But unlike most Joes he had a ball-joint neck that was incompatible with the others, so I could only swap his head onto Cobra bodies.

There is something in RC that doesn't agree with my taste buds. The first time I ever had it was as a kid at a park, and I accused my brother of putting sand in my drink when I wasn't looking. Nearly 40 years later, it still tastes like that to me.
