Not good fortune, just a solid streak of excellent work. I always flick through Private Eye on arrival to see whether you're there!

Ouch!

Given your usual method, is it Burnham by Train?

Pre-ordered (or, as they say in English, ordered). Loved chapter 1, just counting the days to Sep 1st…

A full scale pond around your house is a moat :-)

Lovely, and a reminder that I need to watch Brigadoon again ("it's not the heat, it's the humanity")

I use Graysky (sic) on my phone, and that still starts at 'Following'. I tried my official Bluesky client and that has indeed changed to 'Discover'. Ugh.

And most of all, this Easter triduum, I want to loudly praise all those who carry out the day-to-day work of the St John Eye Hospital and its satellite clinics, tirelessly saving the sight of children in the Holy Land.

It's worse - Jersey seems to follow the UK pattern, with the addition of brown as Whole Milk

Guernsey, oddly, follows the European pattern (red=full fat), not the UK one.

We were in Sainte-Mère-Église today. Seems we haven't improved parachute accuracy in 80 years…

I'm so glad it's not only me! We had a wasp nest under our living room floorboards last year (got in through an airbrick), and I was derided for claiming to hear them "breathe" at night, as they settled down. Used to love listening to them until they disappeared as winter approached.

Wow, untold numbers of committee chair people saying "They said what?"

Slightly concerning that the driver needs to be reminded to use it!

We have a fat-ball feeder hanging under a willow tree in our garden which is only used by jackdaws. There is often a pair attacking the balls, and up to 10 crowded underneath catching the dropped bits. A glorious sight.

Our UK equivalent is politicians studying PPE at our apparently prestigious Oxford University (Philosophy, Politics and Economics, though many drop the E part because it's too hard). Some (most?) of them are phenomally stupid.

I'm often stunned by the ingenuity of people spelling my surname, Reap. "Read" is most common, but I think "Wrin" is my favourite.
February 5, 2025 at 12:43 PM
Yes, me too. I plan to read it in real time, like I did for Brian Bilston's "Days like these" last year, though my usual procrastination will mean that I'll probably be reading it on the last day of the mini-season each time.
