They don't need Doctorow to tell them that. Everybody is well aware of this problem. But what they do need is grow a spine to actually act and stand up to the techbros.

It's the style promoted by self-proclaimed LinkedIn gurus who say it'll make the algorithm boost your posts more. And there are too many gullible people on LinkedIn who only try to write for the algorithm these days. (I suspect the shortness of each line is also due to small mobile screens.)

Why are you explaining the obvious to me (and contradicting yourself)?
Point is: If the argument is "stay peaceful against ICE because the regime is just waiting for a reason to attack you", that's moot. This regime doesn't need to wait for a reason b/c it will simply generate reasons as needed.
January 8, 2026 at 11:19 PM
But the only people who ARE falling for this regime's nonsense are the MAGAs, and those are exactly the people the "sacrificial lambs" would normally be for to stoke their anger.
January 8, 2026 at 11:10 PM
I'd add that this particular fascist regime doesn't really need sacrificial lambs anymore because the dicks in the WH will just make shit up as needed and have their billionaire techbro friends generate and mass-spread suitable "evidence". So this isn't a reason anymore to go easy on the murderers.

"According to Fluent Planet’s website, its translators 'studied at the best translation universities or have decades of experience under their belt.'"
Spoiler alert (from a translator): This is a white lie at best. Competent, experienced professionals don't work for shitty platforms like this.

This sounds weird. Maybe the support rep didn't understand your issue or thought you were referring to the hibernation feature. There are definitely several settings that can be adjusted (e.g., see help.vivaldi.com/desktop/tabs...). Good luck in case you want to give Vivaldi another try some day!
Memory Saver | Vivaldi Browser Help
Memory Saver helps reduce memory usage by automatically hibernating tabs that haven’t been used in a while. Learn more about the feature here.

Say what now? I've been using it for quite a while. The only time there is a real delay is when you hibernated some tabs you weren't using (but this feature can be customized). Maybe it's a bug for some, but definitely not a feature.

Video content is ok to get some attention or to explain complex things w/ visuals but other than that, it sucks for knowledge dissemination. Takes too long to watch, automatic transcripts with all the uhs and ahs are a pain, no clickable links, poor machine-translated audio etc. I prefer text+pics.

Whatever you're trying to say here, I'll just respond with this for anybody who is genuinely interested in learning more about how all those billionaires are fooling the rest of us: inequality.org/article/true...

How the ultra-wealthy use charitable giving to avoid taxes and exert influence — while ordinary taxpayers foot the bill.

They all do that AFTER they have turned a blind eye for years to amass more wealth than decent human beings need in multiple lifetimes. They usually get tax benefits for it, too, so their wealth just keeps growing. And many of their causes subtly preserve their own status quo. They're bad, period.

Reminds me of this "controversy" from a few years ago: slate.com/news-and-pol... – why does everything need a sequel or reboot these days? 🙄

"I was just following orders" has never been an excuse used by perfectly fine individuals...

I'll never understand why he thinks this is a selling point instead of an aggressively waving red flag. (Assuming you're talking about the same "he" I'm immediately thinking of... 🤭)
December 6, 2025 at 3:45 PM
Probably because the only way to get filthy rich is by exploiting workers and worse. Decent people don't get that much money (a handful of lottery winners maybe being the exception).

This one is easy: "AI" wastes a shitton of resources, constantly feeding more and more workloads to your Dell computer's fans so they'll break down faster and you can happily buy another Dell machine. Brilliant sales strategy, really! You're just not smart enough to understand this. 😜

Incessant noise is considered a hazard for a reason. Don't look at your ability here as a deficiency but as a different type of weapon against these mofos. Crying, wailing, screeching – whatever slows these cowards down is fine.
Cheers from a fellow angry-cryer! 💪

Companies like these can't really be contacted anymore – you'll end up in chatbot hell. Nobody'll care about your message.
What every sane person should be doing instead is reconsider how much you really need these companies in your life. 0% isn't always possible but less is. Let your wallet speak!

And once we get into all the exploitation and abuse suffered by all the data workers behind ChatGPT & Co., things get really dark.

So if you can't deal with absolutely valid criticism, that's a you problem. Learn to handle it.
October 19, 2025 at 6:43 AM
And yes, the type of usage/content is very much part of the equation. If someone enjoys fashion vids, fine. But ChatGPT and Co. are known to generate bullshit, spam (including fake videos on YT!) and misinformation with further harm down the road. That makes the waste of energy even worse.
October 19, 2025 at 6:41 AM
You just confirmed my assumption about you making numbers up as needed. Estimating the total amount of energy consumed w/o taking context into account and completely ignoring how much energy went into creating all the data ingested by ChatGPT shows how little you have thought about this issue.
October 19, 2025 at 6:37 AM
Do you have an actual source for this claim or do you make numbers up as needed? Just curious...

Also, a person watching a legit YT video is very different from a person generating BS and generic crap from billions of data stolen from rightsholders. This is part of the full equation.
