This was actually somewhat validating: looking at how quickly these applications fall apart at cursory scrutiny, I feel confident _I_ won’t be mistaken for a bot.

It’s _so_ close to the book, minus some of the truly grimy elements. A favorite of mine growing up.

I get these too (including one vaunting me as an expert in “cisgenderism”; sure). The gall to invite us to serve, gratis, as expert annotators for RLHF as if it’s a privilege is shocking.

Cheers. One of the best feelings in the world.

Just an hour ago I ran an old paper of mine through NotebookLM expecting rote, robotic, summaries. I had to turn it off five minutes in; it was too uncanny.

Admittedly, watching The Cis confronted with her shit for the first time has been a fun distraction today.

I always wanted to experience it. Maybe it’s for the best I never did.

Oh shit, was it the Calcasieu River Bridge, with the pistols?

Literal lol at “fighting ability.”

I don’t care much (beyond the whole “society-wide repercussions” angle) but I wonder if the new MCU stuff will attempt this kind of “triggered much??” culture war signaling.

Jealoooous.

Hell yeah.

I’m reliably read as Slavic (a mixed bag) before my honking garbage accent clocks me.

My MA is in forensic mental health counseling. I also completed the degree requirements for forensic psych. In retrospect, I’m glad I chose a subfield with zero illusions re the worst of what humankind can perpetrate.

Exactly. We actually have empirics on this: 10% of the world’s adult population, noodling away uselessly at the “word-guessing machine.”

I kept having to remind myself that most of those characters grew up in that essentially medieval, quarantined, world, rife with superstition and fanaticism. In light of that, that the <SPOILER> final scene centers on an act of education felt especially pointed.

I may have _just_ scrolled by (and rolled my eyes at) the post you’re alluding to.

Oh damn, Martyrs is one of the few films my wife and I disagree vehemently on, and somehow I missed that 2015 remake. The stills look like a high-school project.

“Cynical utilitarianism” is beautifully put. The best-funded senior investigators I knew were essentially riffing on durably successful formulas that appealed to funders’ innate conservatism.

I agree with you fwiw. The indiscriminate flinging around of causal language, in particular, has made me crazed.

I’d actually assumed I’d simply blocked and muted the right accounts, glad to know the trend is real. There’s a cool little community here.
