tried to like this again on the repost 😅

hoping this will help with some of the current fps dips on steam deck ☺️

it's a news feed entry from Deadline :O

I've tried to make sense of it with commas, but it escapes sense-making anyway in the back half

when you click through to the article itself, the headline is pretty different, but like... also feels like having a stroke unless you're familiar with the show

the big companies struggle so much with the lower limit to the scale and ambition of games--they can't just have something be profitable in proportion to what it is

splinter cell was and should be a 8-15 hour game of well designed stealth scenarios, but Ubi need it to be your life for 18 months

I...
this can't be what they meant for it to say, it's just complete gibberish

Donkey Kong Bananza. Free from the shackles of a legacy Mario 64 moveset, Nintendo made a game with more in common with character action games and imsims than the 3D platformers they popularised and dominated among for 40 years.

Some people will never jive with it for that reason, but I, well,

I think the first person perspective is a banger for the vibes so I'm happy for a return of that, but couching it in Metroid Prime mechanics and bolting new things on to it makes it too familiar 20 years on

I'm prolly gonna give it a go on my Bananza box, but yah, I share your lack of excitement

but it's been long enough since the first that I should be able to feel enthusiasm for this, and as I too am realising that I just don't, I'm trying to put my finger on what I'm even looking for in a Metroid Prime successor

and frankly I think that's it; not a *Metroid Prime successor*

Metroid Prime is one of my fave games, and the kind I would argue is one of the best games, and I often get weird about sequels when I love a game that much. I just kinda don't feel passionately about them, because the impact of the first was so strong

I'm that way with Bayonetta, too

yeah :D also, experiencing the polar *opposite* of ocd style anxiety having games neatly added to your library with cover art and splash pages 😌 the integration is so slick

but! 🍑 putting emudeck on my steamdeck and knowing it has the one hardware config that the emu settings target, allowed me to relax

being pathologically against pirating things (for me - you do you) it helped that I could just rip my Shinobi disc and play it

so now I've finished Shinobi PS2

and so with that option eliminated, what remained was emulation for better rendering

I notoriously cannot stand video game emulators, they just give me too much ocd style anxiety about the million ways they don't look the same, run the same, *aren't the same*

Yeah I think this is it. I don't think people necessarily go to df for the gta6 stuff yet, but everyone is keen on their steam hardware breakdown

I use reddit fairly little so maybe it doesn't know me well enough to show me personalised ads, but the ads I do get make it seem like reddit is all techbro bitcoin mining AI garbage 24/7
