This was an amazing episode!

Thank you @mylesehrlich.bsky.social for the well-researched questions, and allowing Natasha #Cloud9 the space to give answers, and elaborate context.

It's so important that interviews can provide space and show deeper perspectives of the people being interviewed.

Episode 65 of Pull Up is one of our best. Natasha Cloud joined us for a conversation that had relationships as a through line: with Liberty fans, with media, and with our communities. Her compassion vibrates and, in this clip, Tash opens up about her why. Links below. 🔗👇

As an LFC fan, respectfully, who in their right mind shows up to a hearing wearing a Liverpool FC necktie? Not to mention you're in a high position. You can't be serious...🙃

On three separate occasions today I've seen/heard the phrase "Good intentions". It doesn't feel like the most common thing to say, so that's weird. 😅

2. Lyric in CHVRCHES - "Get Out"
3. In an ad on the subway.

Dang, Chris, leave some stadium dates for some other bands. This tour has gone on since 2022😅

Now, Coldplay intends to announce 2027 dates already. (Do as your name suggests and play it cool).

News that the Chief Epidemiologist (at the Public Health Agency of Sweden) announced his resignation today. He feels the agency is "uncomfortable" with his "efforts to promote evidence based practices and medical competency".

Didn't the "vocal minority" note such resistance years ago under Tegnell?

The one I'll come back to: definitely "Everybody's Trying to Figure Me Out" but as for the first listens here: "Lucky stars", "Try to feel my pain" and "Take me back" are all contenders.

Overall, a bit of a mixed bag. The samples were used well. A bit repetitive on the narrative but another time it might feel more cohesive. Definitely prefer my HAIM when they have a bit of swag and groove to it. Solid album for a first introduction, I guess.
simonpeydamoore.bsky.social
One more thing: The build up is kind of Zooropa too, with the ending part of "Now it's time" sounding influenced by the second part of "Zooropa" once it really kicks into gear. Awesome!
simonpeydamoore.bsky.social
15. "Now it's time" - Oh, I definitely know this one ("Numb" from U2's "Zooropa)! I like the added oomph to the backing track. The Irish lads returning the favor after "My Song 5" featured on their "Lights of Home" in 2017. Sounds like a a cousin to "Big Time Nothing" by St Vincent from last year.
simonpeydamoore.bsky.social
14. "Blood on the street" - Back to the rock sound, a kind of blues rock as it happens. I guess that goes well with the narrative of the song. But it is becoming a bit too much of the same. Next...
simonpeydamoore.bsky.social
13. "Cry" - HAIM goes "Viva La Vida" with those staccato synth strings or whatever that is in the background. It's not just me, right? More country influence with that pedal steel guitar. Kind of catchy but a bit too repetitive for my liking.
simonpeydamoore.bsky.social
12. "Spinning" - Yep, more of the groove. Disco? Getting a bit of a Natalie Prass vibe from this one. This is Alana on vocals, right? (No expert on HAIM but read something like that). Pretty straightforward pop but I like it. Might work as a remix, too?
simonpeydamoore.bsky.social
11. "Try to feel my pain" - Ooh, another groovy sound. I think it's clear now that I like my HAIM groovy, haha. I like the juxtaposition of the sad plea for empathy with the catchy music. Sweet.
simonpeydamoore.bsky.social
10. "Everybody's Trying to Figure Me Out" - I loved this one since the first time I heard it. I feel like the story is relatable, the groove is there, the music is catchy and focused. Easy candidate for favorite. The second part of the song is really cool too. (Ebow? <3)
simonpeydamoore.bsky.social
9. "Million years" - Lol, "have I been here before?" is what I keep asking myself on this album, too. Might grow on me but it's confusing when the lyrics/singing are introspective and the music is energetic. An acoustic take might have worked for me. The music could have been an intermission?
simonpeydamoore.bsky.social
8. "Lucky stars" - If the vocals had been more quiet or vague in the mix, it would sound like a modern take on "Elvis Presley And America". It has that dream-like stream-of-consciousness vocal approach, and two chord verse. Then it has that distorted guitar in the chorus. I quite like this one.
simonpeydamoore.bsky.social
7. "The farm" - Another song that I feel seems so very familiar. Almost as though it's a cover or sample from somewhere. Strange. Seems like it leans into the folksy/country vibe that has been trendy lately. It's cute, and warm, and sweet. It's...OK.
simonpeydamoore.bsky.social
6. "Love you right" - Not sure what to say, it doesn't do anything for me. It's not bad but it doesn't stand out. Just feels like another song about struggling with relationships. Might grow on me with more listens because the music is pretty.
simonpeydamoore.bsky.social
5. "Take me back" - Can't remember if this was a single, but it's super catchy. The call/response chorus is the shining star here. Love the organized chaos of the production here: guitars, bass, drums, harmonica, hand claps, xylophones/glockenspiel. A sweet cacophony.
