Simply switching to EVs won't be enough. We also need to return to sane vehicle sizes - for energy efficiency (an electric US pickup uses loads of electricity), pedestrian safety & space reasons. US extreme obviously, but applies to Europe too.

Britain combines high public debt (100% of GDP), high (& rising) taxes, very high poverty rates (including of destitution), crisis-hit public services & limited public assets (after selling everything of value). No comparable country has managed such a policy failure. www.jrf.org.uk/blog/what-de...
