I was there today on my wanders round the West End and took this IR shot from Kelvinbridge. I was mainly thinking about the roofline of the former Red Hackle bonded warehouse to the left and its bright neon red sign on the roofline in the sixties.
Clearly visible from the Great Western Road.

Early for my hospital appointment. That's three cars booked for parking in a disabled bay without a badge.

Ferries like these. I remember travelling on them. The queue for the vehicular ferry and the gates saying DAN - GER when they closed. The crush of men on these steps when the works shifts changed..

Laptop kaput... It got water spilled on it while plugged in. This component has blown and there is a short on the input.
Oh well...

Visited this monument to Ayrshire and Scottish coal mining and the great industries it supported.
Looks great in silhouette but the site is neglected and unmaintained.
A memorial and a huge tourist opportunity but nobody cares.

New camera. Fujica half frame from about 1965. f1.9 lens.
The 1/500 speed is a bit slow but it's no problem.

Looks like it's half frame Sunday...

Glasgow City Chambers. An opulent city council building completed in 1888.

Meanwhile, many of the people of the city lived in squalid slums as recorded by Thomas Annan just a few years before.

I was there on Sunday. The marble is shades of brown.
In fact it's all a bit brown.

I guess that the metal plates on the right are fixtures left from the tramcar days. Overhead power cable hangers.
My mother used to take me to Partick for shopping on the tram.

Look how dirty the buildings. Every flat burned coal. ( 1962)
