Definitely can relate. Have learned ways of getting people to share what they are feeling rather than banking on me reading expressions or changes in tone. Sometimes asking directly I see you made a face was that a good face, thinking face, or something wrong face.

Just last year I got a rejection letter only to receive an interview a few days later. I asked directly about it because why not. They wanted to save 50 dollars on the posting by not using their system to set up my interview. I was like you see how that isn’t a good look right?

Gotta love forced empathy as a punishment. If it were really it would probably be the most effective discipline.
