And for context, I've been depressed my whole life along with being medicated the majority of my life also. I've also never been hospitalized for it. Even though my mom used to threaten me with it. So if I end up there, things have gone terribly wrong and my coping mechanisms have quit working.

It's just voluntourism. I did something similar with someone I knew from my singles ward who started a charity after he came back from his mission. Very little meaningful service gets done.
