Saw this image on Reddit & it made me think about my own software development journey & what comes next on my roadmap

Here's my timeline:
2004 - HTML, CSS for making MySpace & Xanga purdy
2008 - Teenie bit of PHP
2019 - Full speed ahead on PHP, along with JavaScript, jQuery & MySQL
(continued ...)
This is just the reminder I needed and shall be my new motto going forward 🙂.

This is me after solving a tough code problem: "Yay! I finally solved it"

5 min later: "Why didn't I think of this solution sooner? Let me write it down so I remember to blog about it"

Time goes on: no blog post written.

... and the cycle repeats lol. Committing to breaking the cycle for 2025 💪🏾

As a clumsy person I can totally relate.

✅ computer + me = safe
🛟 anything w/ hands = daily gamble

Once, I sliced my finger & needed small stitching from using scissors to cut boxes.

I have some other cut of equal seriousness on another finger & I know my fingerprints will never be the same lol.
I just stabbed myself hard enough to draw blood.

With a fork.

This is why my day job is computers, and not anything dangerous like "trying to do things with hands".

I can't believe I've gone so long without using custom hooks in React.

I'm having to work around some frustrating limitations of using the latest version of Next.js with the latest version of Shopify's App Bridge for an embedded app and hooks have really come in handy 💪🏾

Solving technical problems with the help of others can be just as valuable as figuring things out on your own as long as you treat each moment of help as a learning experience and absorb the information provided to you.

X is now an ex lol. Hello humans of blue sky 👋🏾.

My name is Shakima, I'm a self-taught developer who likes to spend their free time tinkering on their motorcycle more than riding it lol. I kid, it's just not prime time riding season for me yet 😎

Nice to e-meet you.
