My contention is not that Colon or Lo Duca is a controversial candidate, but rather that each is decidedly inferior to other potential picks. We all agree that omitting Whitaker from the ballot this time around for inferior players was a travesty. Let's not repeat the same mistake next time.

Whitaker and Evans certainly deserve serious consideration, and Palmeiro is...an interesting case. But Bartolo, when Kevin Brown and David Cone are both options? Paul Lo Duca, when both Posada and Kendall are Contemporary Era catchers?
