A lot of it comes from efficiency savings from electrification (60% is lost in heat burning oil/gas), and from insulating homes. But it's a good point. Companies still get 84% tax relief for investing in oil and gas in the North Sea - and nothing for renewables...!

The UK Gov’s expert advisers have shown that investing to transiton from expensive gas to clean energy will save the UK nearly £40 billion every year!

Most people can’t afford the up-front investment, but the UK absolutely can.

Tackling climate change isn’t just about protecting people.

Totally agree that cutting unnecessary energy use is key. For one thing, it brings a zero carbon future closer.

There should be a major national program to insulate homes, cutting bills, and an expansion in public transport to reduce car use.

Supporters of new gas power stations with carbon capture argue that the Climate Change Committee says we need them.

But here's the CCC Chair saying it's a bad idea. New science shows they'll drive more imports of LNG which has huge upstream emissions along its international supply chain. #CCS
