They/Them
A living Mad Libs of most of my tastes and delivers them with just the right energy. It isn't revolutionary with what it's trying to do but it executes what it does pretty well. Hibiki is the most Kamen Rider protag anime character I've seen.

The most an anime has made me actively squirm while watching it. Every single game here has a crushing weight to it and wins feel like Kaiji barely scrapes by. Production-wise I think its best trait is its editing, it makes every single move taken hit like a meteor.

Best season of the show without question. Feels like they fully found their footing here and didn't have a single dud. I'd have to think for quite a while longer for my fav ep of the season when the past two seasons had pretty easy best ones.

Very simple narratively but really fun as an excuse to flex as much as possible with practical effects. There's some really gnarly monster designs in this one which get to shine a lot more with a full movie budget. It's very funny how much Masaru gets his ass kicked in fights.

Kind of a mess. There's a skeleton of a good story here that isn't delivered with nearly as much grace as it needs, which makes its metacommentary angle feel very shallow. Its mostly saved by Ace being a pretty fun protag and the action being stellar.

I saw "Written by Seth Rogen" in the opening credits and that set the tone for it. This makes me feel like I'm not entirely immune to frat bro-ish humor even if it's still not entirely my cup of tea. Fogell's the goat, he solos all of your favs.

Going through everyone I know there's a 50/50 split between people I know would love this and people it'd be completely impossible to recommend it to. Very off-kilter in pretty much every aspect of how it's made, refreshing to have something go entirely at the beat of its own drum.

While I can't say the stories here blew me away, it was really cool to see a step by step evolution of Fujimoto as a creator through them. These adaptations especially are wonderful labors of love towards them which all bring very unique styles.

I hoped it would personally resonate with me a bit more but I still enjoyed it quite a bit. This one coming out after Fire Punch's serialization really shows with how well Fujimoto's settled into his style by this point.

This is like a microcosm of everything I like about Fujimoto as a creative. It's got a very twisted dark sense of humor that's used to package a story about a kid struggling to communicate and being hated for it.

Sets up a lot of really fascinating introspective with how the change affects Toshihide and their relationships with others as a result of it, but kinda falls short of sticking the landing with it. Could've done without the "being a man is being strong!" talk.

The author's note for this one says that Fujimoto wrote this to prove to Jump SQ editorial that he can write a normal story. And yep, he sure proved it! Aside from how beautiful the sea is drawn I don't have much to say. It's super generic.
