This is potentially very exciting! Open-ish platforms on which digital platforms compete to sell games... should mean lots of choice and cheap games.

I worry that they'll all be to technical or PC-like to truly compare with traditional consoles though.

I agree! Most games are overlong these days - not really a bad thing if you want to get your money's worth, but there are SO many games now and you can understand a game's soul within a few hours.

Also PC Game Pass is still out here for almost half the price!

As a gamer that switches from game to game hourly due to gaming (and real) ADHD, and also as a person with severe gaming FOMO, $30 a month in order to play 438 different games whenever I want to, is still the best deal in gaming to me. @xbox.com @sirlarr.bsky.social @brucegreene.bsky.social

We did get one bit wrong - Xbox Rewards redemption limits existed before this revamp.

I saw multiple folks claiming to have banked multiple years of Ultimate from points though, pretty cool.

That doesn't feel too substantially different from the 90s and 2000s though, only the free options didn't even exist then. I definitely ate instant ramen to afford games.

I guess the big change is that there is no discount cycle late into the generation this time. Prices are actually going UP.
