To help myself, I try to keep hope by to remember that while bad things are inevitable good things are possible if we keep trying. Thinking of hope being that attempt helps sometimes.

Hello! I too see much value in other peoples' lives and thus would be happy to support other people through my taxes because I actually care about caring for people! Especially children!
I just want everyone to have a nice life; please can we use taxes for that?

For many people who care about ideology more than ideas, I suspect that they are entirely convinced that their ideology is objective fact instead of subjective opinion based on a limited understanding of the world.

That is very unfortunate.
Lines must be drawn to prevent bad politics such as fascism to take over but that line should accommodate good, moral people who still uphold civil and human rights.
Some disagreement is expected but respect should be mutual and is needed to bridge gaps & truly help people.
