Testing the waters.
Music, movies, books, video games, and anything else adequately creative/escapist.
I drove by my local Waffle House and they were closed. I feel strangely disconcerted about this.

It suck we don’t get fiscal compensation for work-related dreams. Because sometimes the emotional labor of those are worse than actually working.

Can we stop saying “pop/rock” as an umbrella term for non-classical/jazz/etc musical expressions? It’s kinda awkward (poprock lol) and frankly there’s very little real distinction between pop and rock anyway.

I suggest instead of “pop/rock we instead say “prock.”

I never paid super close attention to the album cover to Sunny Day Real Estate’s album The Rising Tide. As such I always thought the cover featured a giraffe.

When you actually LOOK at it, though, it’s not that at all.

I just realized that I haven’t had sloppy joes in years. At least a decade. Perhaps two. And that’s depressing.

As someone who enjoys (and actively engages with) reading novels, hearing non-readers talk about what readers must think/like about reading is hilarious.

Listening to Rage Against the Machine before bed was not actually a great way to wind down lol.

Anyway, I left my salad in the car and everything is frozen.

Driving home from work tonight and I saw a fox trotting down a quiet Lancaster City street like it owned the place.

You occasionally see non-city wildlife in urban settings, but this one threw me for a loop.

Update: I listened to the entire Ethel Cain discography over the weekend. I don’t think I love any of it, but Perverts is interesting and I could see it being a grower.

I still find her quite fascinating.

Spending the weekend catching up on (ie, trying to understand) Ethel Cain. Will report back.

Sometimes I just think to myself “What would JTT do?”

It’s almost 1am and I’m fantasizing about the sandwich I made for dinner.

It was a good sandwich.

I splurged on getting Lebanon bologna and I might have to continue stocking my fridge with it. It’s not a cheap deli meat, but it sure is delicious.

I’ve never sat down and listened to Joy Division before so I decided to listen to Unknown Pleasures, partly because the cover is iconic t-shirt fashion, and partly because Apple Music recommended it on my home page.

After listening to the whole album I… don’t really get it. It’s fine.

While I don’t really analog BlueSky with Twitter/X, the one thing it definitely shares with its bigger name counterpart is a ridiculous amount of spam accounts that randomly follow me for no discernible reason.

You know the tv documentary is going to be fire when it starts and the narrator is British.

Anyway, if you celebrate, have a nice X-Mas, And if you don’t, like, have a nice day regardless.

(I haven’t used “X-Mas” instead of “Christmas” in, like, three decades. But it’s 2024. Let’s put the X back in the season!

The older I get, the more convinced I become that Living Sacrifice’s album Reborn is an all time great metal album.

I had a dream where I slept. Does that mean I got bonus sleep points? Inception sleep? Is that a thing?

Me, after accidentally pulling up the App Store page from an in-game ad for the tenth time because I fat-fingered hitting the X to close the ad: “Yes this is a fair trade off for free gaming.”

I’m absolutely in love with the vibes of Murder, She Wrote. A TV show that started the year I was born and that I vaguely remember reruns of during my childhood. Haven’t thought about it in about three decades. But I started watching a few days ago on a whim and it’s exactly what I need right now.

I’m a half hour into Possession (1981), and boy howdy is it intense. It’s a film with a reputation, that much I knew, but otherwise I entered without knowing anything. The first half hour feels like other film’s climactic peak.
