I've been on the board of @theopennotebook.bsky.social for a few years, and I'm so amazed by how much incredible work this team gets done.

People around the world — who don't have access to training — have used TON's classes, articles, tipsheets, etc. to self-teach and BECOME journalists.

TON's work strengthens science journalism and helps journalists navigate life-or-death issues like climate change, measles, and federal funding for cancer research, and to hold power to account.

Random question: Does anyone know how doctor's offices decide which magazines to subscribe to and lay out in their waiting rooms? (Or really, how does anyone with a waiting room make this decision?)
