I’m Michael, a former actor/writer who came to comics late in life. Not as a career move. For the creative autonomy. I write about life with ADHD and pop culture obsessions.

I’m a teaching fellow at SAW where I host events. I have 2 short books in the works and a graphic novel in my crosshairs.
At the 2025 Kennedy Center Honors the following artists will be celebrated for their indelible contributions to American culture: Scott Baio, Ted Nugent, Kid Rock, Sean Combs, and that guy who played Hercules on that TV show.

Hi Ho comics friends!

Subbing for Tom tonight as host of the Friday Night Workshop presented by the Sequential Artists Workshop. I bet some of you will appreciate the timely theme. Nicole’s last workshop felt healing and inspiring.

Hope you’ll join us!

For the last 4 years I’ve been the moderator of a Lynda Barry inspired workshop at SAW. After working through Making Comics, I formed an offshoot group called Promptapalooza where we meet biweekly to tackle 4-minute prompts drawn directly in ink. It’s become an essential comics-adjacent practice.

In 2018, I rebooted my art education 37 years after graduating from the High School of Art & Design and giving up on art.

One of my first Instagram posts was this watercolor portrait I began at a local art center.

It was a step toward reclaiming something important that I lost along the way.

An imaginary conversation with Jules Feiffer drawn in 2021 for the Year Long Program at SAW.

Feiffer’s influence runs like a ribbon through many chapters of my life, from my theater days to making comics.

Thank you for everything, Jules Feiffer, and good night.
