Many editions of Charles Dickens' works can be found in our collections, including this first edition of 'Dombey & Son', published in 19 parts by Bradbury & Evans between 1846 & 1848. The parts are bound in the original blue wrappers & contain illustrations by H.K. Browne.

Charles Dickens, writer and social critic, was born on 07 February 1812.

These editions of some of his most famous works were published by Chapman & Hall in 1850 and are part of Rev. Sabine Baring-Gould's library.

These engravings on the frontispiece and title page are from an edition of Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice', which was published by Richard Bentley in 1856.
