Nice, Colin! That should be hanging on someone's wall.

It's a glass baby bottle. They were common a long, long time ago. Seems shocking now, but I remember seeing babies feeding from them. Here's the history of baby bottles: www.alimentarium.org/en/story/his...

I may have seen it in Madrid when visiting the Museo del Prado, since that's where it lives. Here's the link to the Wikipedia entry: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Imm... Know what it reminded me of? The one in Ely Cathedral we saw - that brought Beyoncé to mind.

OK, found the answer! It's "Immaculate Conception" (1767-1769) by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo. The painting was commissioned by King Charles III of Spain in March 1767 and resides in the Museo del Prado in Madrid.

You're welcome! Borrowed it from the library then bought it. Lots of information about The Met, yes, but also lots of wisdom. Reminds me of my favorite book, "Working: People Talk about What They Do All Day and How They Feel about What They Do" by Studs Terkel, a Chicago author and broadcaster.

If you haven't read "All the Beauty in the World: The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Me" by Patrick Bringley, I can heartily recommend it. www.simonandschuster.com/books/All-th... The Met from the eyes of one of its guards.
