I watched a book talk today online about a book titled Lincoln‘s Peace: The Struggle to end the American Civil War. The author did a great job describing the book so I ordered a copy to read. Have any of you read it yet?

I just finished reading a pro-south approach to causes of the Civil War. I was surprised that it was published recently. While I disagreed with most of the claims the discussion of economics was interesting.

School starts in a week. Of course I decided to rearrange my classes at the beginning of the summer and will have to get a lot of reading done, syllabi written and come up with new assignments to better help students. Next week will be a busy one.

My last post 6 months ago was about creating an abstract for a conference paper. 6 months later I’m trying to get the paper written. 😐

I’ve had no one I’m following post in days, so I guess I will post a Happy Thanksgiving 😀

I’m trying to put together an abstract for a history conference this summer. For once I’m finding it impossible to make it interesting.

I’ve started watching the news again this week. They offer lots of reasons for Harris’s loss. I wonder if it is simply many in this country won’t vote for a woman for president.

We booked a cruise today for January! Even if I’m still not quite back to normal after the surgery on my foot and ankle, the cruise should be relaxing and fun.

Today I'm teaching about primary/secondary sources (a lecture and activities) in not just my first year survey class, but also decided to give the same lecture in my upper division class. Hopefully this will provide a good introduction for them
