Cyclist, scuba diver, planning to transition…to a Canadian.
Not great snow but found some that softened up on the backside of Blackcomb. Spectacular views.

So Juneteenth and MLK Jr days are no longer free entry days into National parks but Trump’s birthday is. Obsequious? Factotum? What are the words for this abomination?

Watching OSU-Michigan (Go Buckeyes!). ATT ad appears and “straight shootin’”guy says he can tell fact from fertilizer then claims ATT invented the telephone. Except AG Bell didn’t form his company until a year after inventing the phone. Pedantic? Yes. Corporate fertilizer bullshit? Absolutely.

Sept 5 - Welker asks “Do you acknowledge that these tariffs are a tax?”
Bessent “No, I don’t.”
Nov 14 Bessent “You’re going to see substantial announcements…That will bring down prices very quickly”

Tariffs aren’t a tax but cutting them will slash prices. What a cynical lying sack of shit.

The new ICE song by Jesse Welles nails it.

ICE isn’t recruiting heroes, it’s recruiting the bitter, the rejected, the ones desperate for a badge to cover their failures.

Point Roberts is a geographic anomaly of the treaty that set the U.S./Canada border along the 49th parallel. It’s a part of the US but not connected. Covid crushed the economy. Idiot Trump not helping. We went up to spend some money. You should do the same. Great golf course and restaurant.

Posting here I feel insufficiently politically engaged but I can’t be angry 24/7. Sometimes you have to paella. Yes, it’s a verb! And if you have a few crab as well, so much the better.

Word of the Week: Garbage Time of History (历史的垃圾时间, lìshǐ de lājī shíjiān) chinadigitaltimes.net/2024/08/word...

Came across this on the always excellent Adam Tooze Chartbook substack. While it describes China, seems equally if not more relevant to the USA.
Word of the Week: Garbage Time of History (历史的垃圾时间, lìshǐ de lājī shíjiān)
When the result of a sporting match becomes a foregone conclusion and lesser players are subbed in to run out the clock, announcers often term it “garbage time.” The latest term to sweep the Chinese i...

Breaking: RFK Jr. has forced out PETER MARKS, the nation’s top vaccine regulator.

In his resignation letter, obtained by the Post, Marks said he was willing to work with RFK Jr on his vaccine concerns — but said Kennedy wishes “subservient confirmation of his misinformation and lies.”

Marks, an architect of Operation Warp Speed, warned that a recent measles outbreak shows how confidence in science and public health is being “undermined.”
