In this particular case, that sort of Whedonesque writing was more novel and just starting to gain traction when Prime 3 came out in 2007, so it was a lot less of a complaint due to not being *everywhere* yet.

Ehh...it could also lead to them quitting the game. Getting stuck on Margit in Elden Ring made me seriously consider refunding the game, and while I eventually got past him, I absolutely can't say the same for any of the major bosses in Shadow of the Erdtree.
