Personally I prefer the Sutherland late 70s version to the original. The acting and special effects really sell the story.
There are at least two more derivatives I'm aware of, one in the early 90s and one around 2005, but I havent seen either so I can't comment on them.

Played half way thru HL2 on xbox and a few hours into HL Alyx VR.
Alyx so amazing I had to stop until I had time to fully devote.
Its now a year later.
After the holidays I hope to start with Black Mesa and play thru them all.
If you have VR free HL1 and HL2 VR versions are available on Steam.
