I did a walkthrough, here’s a timelapse. This is probably the biggest demo in D.C. so far post-inauguration, brought together by the 50501 Movement which originated on Reddit.

Respectfully, the majority of resources were donated and brought in, like thousands of people in NC contributed to supply runs. But ofc there's nothing wrong with being prepared for emergencies, a stocked pantry sounds great! But all the preppers I've met don't intend to share, hence all the guns.

I don't think this list from Killjoy falls into the category of what I'm talking about, but I have seen a lot of other people sharing "go bag" lists that are what I'm describing and i think there's a line and it's important to acknowledge it. WE keep each other alive through sharing.

So yeah it helps for people to be prepared, and it is true that you may need to suddenly evacuate your home, but the idea that you're gonna set out with a glock and a can of beans in a backpack and "survive" is a fantasy based in toxic American individualism.

Just look at what happened in WNC and how many lives everyday people saved. They did their own search and rescue, cleared roads, distributed water food generators fuel and heaters. They're still distributing resources including shelter!

Yeah i agree with this, a lot of go bag/prepper lists make me really angry bc they just seem like everyone wants to be Lauren from the Parables, but realistically what keeps people alive during and after disaster is community care and sharing resources.
