Learning to observe is the foundational skill of drawing- looking at a reference and deciding what components are valuable for your piece is the same skill, just using a static image. New artists really need to be hearing this as often online as we heard it in art school. So like 20x a day haha
Professionals use art reference.
Hobbyists use art reference.
Newbies use art reference.
Teachers use art reference.
Everyone uses reference.
Use reference for your art.
