A Republican state lawmaker leading a campaign to ban pornography in Michigan appears to have had an account on a pornographic hook-up website that promised users they could “find sex” and “get laid tonight,” according to records obtained by _Metro Times_.
State Rep. Josh Schriver, R-Oxford, who has called porn a “scourge” and compared it to heroin, introduced legislation in September to ban online pornography statewide. But data reviewed by _Metro Times_ show that an account linked to his personal AOL email address appeared in a data breach from Fling.com, a pornographic dating site that features live web cams and promised users they could “find sex” and “get laid tonight.” An archived version of the site shows it provided access to explicit photos, videos, and live sex webcams.
For years, the website described itself as the “world’s best casual personals for adult dating, sex, and swingers.”
The leaked information, verified by the cybersecurity database SnusBase, lists Schriver’s email address and a profile indicating sexual interests including “fetish” and “groupsex.” The account was last accessed on Sept. 11, 2010, according to breach data.
The records also suggest the account was authentic. The same email address and password appear in multiple other breaches linked to Schriver’s verified personal accounts, including MySpace and Chegg, a homework help platform. The birthday and IP address in the Fling.com records align with Schriver’s March 1992 birth date and his time as a student at Michigan State University in East Lansing, where he graduated in 2015.
Fling.com, a site known for its pornographic webcam content and adult meet-ups, confirmed in 2016 that millions of user accounts containing email addresses, sexual preferences, and IP data had been hacked and sold on the dark web.
Schriver, one of the state’s most outspoken culture-war conservatives, claimed in an email to _Metro Times_ that the records were “forged.”
“This is fake,” Schriver said. “I’ve never heard of this website or accessed it.”
Schriver’s denial is contradicted by extensive cybersecurity data reviewed by _Metro Times_. The information appears in multiple verified breach databases and includes personal details, such as his birth date, AOL address, and an IP address in East Lansing.
Schriver has frequently targeted sexual content and LGBTQ+ rights. In December 2024, he called oral sex “a crime against God and the natural order.’
“The mouth and anus are not reproductive organs,” Schriver wrote on Facebook. “The sin releases plagues of disease, promiscuity and perversion in our local communities. Repent, yield to Christ, be fruitful and multiply!”
That same month, Schriver wrote on X, “Make gay marriage illegal again.” He also voted against bills banning child marriage and closing Michigan’s marital rape loophole, which provided legal protection to anyone who drugged or assaulted their spouse.
Last year, Schriver was stripped of his committee assignments and office budget after promoting the racist “Great Replacement” theory, which claims a plot is underway to replace white Americans with immigrants.
Schriver’s proposed pornography ban would go far beyond laws in other states that require age verification for porn sites. It would outlaw all online pornography, including depictions or descriptions of transgender people. The bill makes it a felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison to “distribute or make available” prohibited content, including what it describes as “a disconnection between biology and gender.”
**How _Metro Time_ s verified the data**
_Metro Times_ independently reviewed the leaked data linked to Rep. Josh Schriver using multiple publicly available cybersecurity databases, including SnusBase, and LeakCheck.io.
The email address [email protected], which matches Schriver’s initials and middle name (Thomas), appears in the Fling.com data breach confirmed by cybersecurity researchers and reported by _Vice News_ in 2016. The same email and password combination appeared in other verified breaches tied to Schriver’s personal accounts, including MySpace, Chegg, and ZeeroQ.
Additional identifying information in the data, including Schriver’s birth month (March 1992) and an East Lansing IP address, aligns with his background and his time as a student at Michigan State University, where he graduated in 2015.
Fling.com’s breach, which included user emails, sexual preferences, and login records, was authenticated by the site’s operators after the data was sold on the dark web in 2016.
