I think we're talking about two different things here. I'm not getting an impression from that sector of the industry because I don't pay any attention to it, I'm specifically talking about media that DOES normally pay attention to industry minutiae and is normally vocally anti-AI.

As someone who doesn't follow PvP focused media I'm telling you I've seen and heard tons of positive coverage of Arc Raiders everywhere with only cursory acknowledgement of its genAI usage, that's why I mentioned it in the first place.

And Larian has said they're actively employing dozens of artists and hiring more, but that hasn't stopped the full fury being rained down on them. Paying a few voice actors a token sum for their voiceprints seems worse to me. No one should be getting a pass otherwise it's just giving tacit approval.

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around Arc Raiders largely getting a pass despite it's terrible, very much user facing, gen AI voices. It's extra shady when devs try to hide it, but Arc Raiders was wide open about it and that seemed to allow them to skate by with just some finger wagging.

"What is the point of getting the new one" is a question parents have been asking since the SNES came out and it's always the same answe: it's more powerful and can play games the old one can't. Switch 2 already has as many or more exclusives than PS5 or Series X had their entire first year.

In the past their previous consoles would be selling for $100-150 at this point, that was a major jumping on point for a lot of young kids over the years. The Switch 1 is now selling for more than it launched at almost 9 years ago, that's the bigger problem.

And this is on twitter where it's as pro-AI as it gets, dude is already getting his criticism watered down.

Hoping it's more of a spinoff or that Jesse has a bigger role than the trailer let on. It looks cool but a new lead and taking it outside the Oldest House feels more like the kind of soft reboot you'd have after 3 games.

It's Wario's World, we're just living in it.

Of course, you should definitely claim it while you can but for anyone who doesn't, or subscribes to Extra/Premium after the fact, they'll still be able to play it. As a first party title it should be on there for longer than the typical 1 year.

As a NIN fan I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at that title, but wow, what a cool track! I liked it immediately and then it just kept getting better.

I initially thought Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty was Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. Can't imagine why I was confused.

Essential games are only claimable for a month. After January 5th it won't be in Essential anymore but will remain on Extra/Premium. Just a quirk of the higher tiers originally being an entirely separate service from "PS Plus".

Hmm, what will sell out first, this or the $100 Virtual Boy empty plastic casing?
December 10, 2025 at 5:00 PM
It's amazing how much that thinking persists. Whenever I come across discussions of HD-DVD vs Blu-ray it's always mentioned that porn helped Blu-ray win, and it really didn't. The industry didn't get onboard with Blu-ray (which was more expensive to press per disc) until the writing was on the wall.

What a letdown this thing was. I would have been all over it at $50-$60, at $100 it should include a replica VB controller. It's like they're competing with themselves to see if they can sell even less units this time around.

What a damning indictment of AI too. If they still had to crunch for "several weeks" to make it, what is the point? Imagine barely sleeping for weeks just entering endless prompts into a computer to get something barely usable. Hundreds of billions invested just to make computers worse.

I was one of them! I really liked the hardware but I continued to use the Zune Windows app for years even after my Zune's battery died because it was my favorite music player/library software too.

I like watching it via a reaction stream from a place like MinnMax or Nextlander but yeah, if not for that I couldn't imagine watching the whole thing live.

Oh good call, I've always wanted to get better with gyro controls but whenever I try to use it in competitive games like Splatoon I end up shutting it off because it messes me up. This seems like the perfect game to practice with.

Yeah, I felt like Prime 2 and 3 were diminishing returns after the still incredible original, so Prime 4 had its work cut out for it and so far it's just looking OK. I'm really hoping it surprises, but Nintendo doesn't seem very confident in it either.
