I don't personally blame people for switching, there were some things about the masto culture that I wasn't huge on. The level CW people were expected to use was pretty excessive for me personally and I hope that's chilled out.
I didn't like having my entire timeline be CW'ed for things like "food"

If this place crash and burns, which I hope doesn't happen, I'm just gonna go back to masto. If masto doesn't stick I'll probably just be done with social media and that will be okay.
If we don't run our own sites, it will always be run by people who hate us. And I am tired of it x3
