Sensou-ji at night closed to viewing, but still open to pray.  Waited between several passerby conducting prayers.  For a quiet place at 2AM, it sure was busy.

Specially happy with this one, this is the previous photo but a crop of the deer's eye with the reflection of the Namdaimon (south gate) in it.  Crop is to see how clear it is in the original.

Back alley streets at night, towering over narrow streets.  A feeling unlike any other.

More close-ups of the doors to Todai-Ji.  Timbers felled from trees we haven't seen since make up the doors to this immense place.  The scale of the doors brings to mind the size of the forests that grew them.

Inside the halls of Todai-Ji.  The vastness of the space is hard to get in terms of scale until you are actually there.  Hard to believe it's pretty much all wood!

It's election day. I have one decision on the ballot. Whether to overturn a hard fought independent redistricting map, or to allow Republicans to stack the house unopposed. I fucking hate this timeline.

Asukasa Monja Kanoya closing up after another night of serving customers.  The still of night punctured by the conversation of the workers, and the occasional movement of bottles or empty supplies.

The bow of a castle wall cuts a path through the moat that surrounds it.  Stacked stones wait still, submerged, and waiting to repel unwelcome visitors.

Observing the door hardware at the entrance to Todai-Ji some of which may have been in use since 1709.  The previous temple was even larger before it burned down.

This guy let me get really close to catch this shot.  Sometimes they just let you hang out, of course he had a good sniff of the lens once I took this.

The entry gate to Osaka Castle has a number of interesting shapes and angles.  Abstract they form some interesting patterns that start and stop from nowhere.
