And of course, no mention of
#shale #hydrofracturing, methane carbon #isotope12, or the fact that methane, horizontal drilling and temperature spikes are all *directly* correlated?

So - no more climate sensitivity, no more tipping points, no more '10°C in the pipeline'?

Sounds like a carte blanche to continue fossil energy investment..
December 15, 2024 at 4:25 PM
Denying that tipping points exist leads to the concept of 'when emissions stop, temperature increase stops' and so leads to government complacency - and continued fossil energy investment

3°C is 30% GDP losses and this is not good; especially as it may occur by 2050 at current rates

However, Mr Jenkins remains a hardcore #shale promoter, and consistently tries to block #hydrogen - the only energy carrier that could replace it; despite $500 billion in US climate damages in 2024 that are arguably directly attributable subscriber.politicopro.com/article/eene...
E&E News: US hurricane damage soared to $500B in 2024
AccuWeather estimates that this year's storms could "wipe away" 2 percent of the nation's economic growth.

Oh look: the anti-hydrogen brigade are blocking the $280 billion in subsidies (EU+US collectively) from getting signed off & disbursed to stakeholders; because of the 'three pillars/delegated acts' chicanery which is now even disavowed by the IEA

EXCLUSIVE | IEA criticises EU green hydrogen rules on additionality, time matching and geographic correlation
International Energy Agency says such requirements — also planned in the US — risk impeding industry development and should be applied ‘cautiously’

e) can be used in every sector, mostly without much retrofitting (like plasma reactors etc for high temperature use or batteries that heat your house)
f) can be produced in different ways from a vast array of feedstocks including electricity, biomass, nuclear, fossil fuels etc
December 4, 2024 at 5:21 PM
Why be so against the only energy source which
a) can be produced from water with no emissions
b) does not require rare earth materials
c) is universally expected to achieve a cost price the same as coal within 5-10 years, and LNG soon after
d) can be stored in infinite volume for seasonal demand

Sorry - this is not true.

LNG is about €1.50/kg-eq

If you are worried about cost/subsidisation/timescales (as some seem to be; despite gas bills being probably something of a non-issue to them personally); then why not think about fossil fuel subsidies which are €56-110bn per year - or climate change which will cost 30% of GDP at 3°C of warming..
December 4, 2024 at 6:35 AM
..and that 3°C could occur by mid-century (!) according to Swiss Re (they kind of need to be accurate in the insurance market)

Serious stuff!

NGFS: 30% GDP loss at 3°C guaranteed..

Not sure if batteries and biofuels alone are going to safely ensure this outcome won't be achieved
December 4, 2024 at 6:28 AM
And if you are worried about subsidies (as Michael Liebreich so obviously is) then why not think about the €56-110bn in subsidies that go to fossil fuels in the EU each year; of which 67% goes directly to shareholders

Then, factor in the 30% GDP loss that the NGFS now say is guaranteed at 3°C..
December 4, 2024 at 6:27 AM
Batteries and biofuels won't replace the global fossil fuel economy

It is irrefutable that the long-term cost of #hydrogen cannot be reduced dramatically; which means Michael Liebreich has a very definite agenda..
