Classically trained oil painter, with a focus on natural impressionism. Just trying to get by
I've had the idea for this wip for a while.
I got the idea after all the #DOGE cuts started. But I thought to myself, "whats the point?" Id be the only one seeing it, it wont change any minds. Then #Isreal just continued to escalate their genocidal war over the civilians in #Gaza. ***

Finished up this painting after a long hiatus. Made some major changes to the position of the book and hands.

Peace in Reading

It's always weird finishing a project. There's no celebration or fanfare. It's just done. Smile cause it happened

I'm very grateful I've found people willing to sit and chat for a couple hours a week.

Session 3!

It's always so exciting to add color to a solid underpainting. You have all the drawing and value information. It's just adding the right color and evaluating the edge

Happy new year!

This is my final project from my senior year. Honestly, painting Sophie was the highlight of my year. Hopefully, next year I'll have many more to share.

Title: Sophie in Red
Size: 20×30in

Session 3

Lots of shifting around this session. But I feel so much better about the drawing and values. Her right arm needs to shift down a bit more

Session 2 v. Session 1

It can be hard to place the figure on a blank canvas. But it's good to make big changes early on while you're not too attached

Session 2. Moved things around, fixed some proportion issues, and made it look more like my model. My goal for next time is to bring back the lights (hopefully it's a sunny day) and push the head forward.

Between then, I'll play catch-up on the background

I've recently been rewatching the series Castle. I'm currently in the middle of season 4. And for the most part, it's cooking. There have been a couple eps that have been a bit big for their britches or just a little floppy. But I've been enjoying the character growth

Value study for a painting started today. I'm so glad the weather cooperated today. The sun cascading across her back was so fun to find and place

I'm so over the photo v. from life debate. Like, whatever get you there is my opinion. You wanna work from a photo to nail your shapes? Great! You wanna work from life to capture color? Great! You wanna do a combination of the two? Fantastic. Stop telling me to do one or the other

Chester Park Bridge - study 2
This study was made as a reference for a much larger commission. The commissioned peice would have been to unwieldy to bring off and on cite. The study also allows me to work during the winter months

Chester Park Bridge - study 1
5×7" plein air oil on panel.

This is a study I did in the summer for a commission currently in progress. It was a proof of concept to see if the client was happy with the composition
