An Earth-facing #SolarFlare has just launched a coronal mass ejection towards Earth. The flare is only moderate in size, but well placed for the eruption to hit us. We’re not talking about anything extreme, but simulations will give a better idea of the likely impact timings and effects soon.

“It is fundamentally impossible to ever establish alien life at some threshold odds ratio, Ocrit, unless we deem the prior probability that some as-yet-undiscovered natural process could explain the event is less than 1/(1+Ocrit).”

UPDATE on our new interstellar friend #A11pl3Z:
Citizen scientist Sam Deen has found earlier observations of from June 25-28, from the ATLAS telescope!

Now with 6 days' worth of data, the eccentricity of A11pl3Z's trajectory is narrowed down to e=10.4 ± 1.1!
... that's undoubtedly interstellar.
