But anyway, per OP we have some great community colleges in Chicago area that are reasonable for exactly that. No expert but probably highly dependent on local funding for other areas of country I'm guessing. I'm fine my suburban taxes are high but part goes to this

Oh ok, I took it as a critical part of helping the poorest as you stated, which may not be the top use of tax dollars for the most destitute. All for more redistribution in general though

Exactly, people who have a place to get to to work or do something, are probably not the poorest of a city. That's also kind of the rationale why kids and seniors often don't have to pay as much, which is a simple way to bracket off what is affordable for working poor vs them.

I feel like commuters are by definition not going to be the poorest of most communities. But affordable fares for this median rider is important

This is a refreshing change from trying to learn about Canadian politics more today though. Like I'm interested since I travel to and work with my factory counterparts in Ontario, but I can only handle so many lore drops at a time

Also large enrollments and scholarships or no worse tuition than northern public schools is a very straight answer I get from my younger cousins generation for why people apply to these. Regardless of race psychodrama
