Let's update the language.
The only place I think there is true merit based hiring is in orchestra hiring after they implemented auditions behind curtains, so the music performance was all that was heard/measured... and then women started getting hired. We all need to learn how unconscious bias impacts all we do.

A great American and a friend, has left us. The daughter of Ann Richards, the great governor of Texas, Cecile Richards was vocal and stalwart advocate for women and abortion rights. May she rest in peace.
