Clearly since 2000 there has been a concerted effort to wrangle back control - so now we have only a handful of places that people visit regularly. Facebook, Amazon, TikTok, Instagram, X etc. All of which have centralised opaque control over what we see, hear and understand.

The internet itself is a decentralised framework - rules and systems created that distribute control across infrastructure, using hardware and software. It’s how it was designed - to withstand any attack to any specific area.
